Northern Ireland
Royal County Down Golf Club
Ranked 3rd in the world by the guide to the 100 best courses. Royal County Down Golf Club opened in 1889 and was extended to 18 holes that year by Old Tom Morris. The course is nestled at the foot of the majestic Mourne Mountains. The narrowest ribbons of fairways weave through a series of sand dunes and into Dundrum Bay, which empties into the Irish Sea. It is a spectacular setting and an exceptional golf course.
Royal Portrush
A majestic course in County Antrim. To the east of the course are the White Rocks, high limestone cliffs that lead up to Dunluce Castle and the headlands of the Giant’s Causeway. Built in 1888, Harry Colt remodelled Dunluce Links in 1932 and it was altered again in 2017 in preparation for the 2019 British Open. Having hosted the British Open in 2019 and returning in 2025, Royal Portrush has the honour of being the only club outside mainland Britain to host the Open Championship.
Port stewart golf club
Golf was first played here in 1889. The new Strand course, designed by Des Giffin and opened in 1992, is the work of Willie Park Jr. The course features rolling dunes, bunkers, undulating fairways and delicate manicured greens. It is superbly set amidst towering sand dunes, with panoramic views over the Atlantic mouth of Lough Foyle and Ireland’s Owen Peninsula. It certainly brings to life the other two great courses nearby.
County Louth Golf Club
One of Ireland’s best kept secrets, County Louth Golf Club was established in 1892. The back nine is particularly entertaining, with a number of holes close to the shore with distant views of the Mourne Mountains. With fast greens and tricky fairways, there’s no doubt that the best golfers will be put to the test.
Ardglass Golf Club
It is one of the most spectacular courses on the Irish coast, with dramatic elevation changes offering breathtaking views of the Irish Sea from every hole as it winds its way along the cliffs to a steep headland and back again. It has the oldest reported structure of a clubhouse, dating back to 1405.

Old Head Golf links
A true masterpiece of golfing architecture. It has 16 oceanfront holes, many of which invite you to drive over a cliff or play along the breathtaking vistas of the wild Atlantic. Old Head offers an unrivalled playing experience in Ireland. The accommodation available on the course makes it a truly unforgettable experience.
Tralee Golf Club
A beautiful and exhilarating creation, the coastline is spectacular and dramatic in the way it changes as you play the course. The third hole, a par 3 called ‘The Castle’, is the signature hole and a real challenge at just over 200 yards. The views from many holes, including the par 3 thirteenth and seventeenth, are simply gorgeous and awe inspiring. According to folklore, Palmer created the first nine holes and Mother Nature did the rest.
Ballybunion Golf links
Ballybunion is an unforgettable experience, with two enchanting courses. Both courses feature a number of wonderful holes along the Atlantic Ocean. Cashen is a spectacular addition to Ballybunion Old, with fantastic views and a magnificent stretch of sand dunes overlooking the open ocean.
Waterville Golf Links
Waterville is set in an idyllic location in County Kerry, on Ireland’s spectacular Atlantic coast. The back nine holes interact with both the sea and the large dunes to provide an unparalleled golfing experience. This is a beautiful part of Ireland and the views from the course are superb.
Lahinch golf Club.
The old course at Lahinch was opened in 1892. When Old Tom Morris saw the course in 1894, he said it was the most beautiful natural course he had ever seen. The Irish Open was held here in 2019 and was won by Jon Rahm. The course uses its natural terrain and large sand dunes, with large tricky undulating greens, it is a true test of Links golf

Ballyliffin golf club.
Ballyliffin Golf Club is widely regarded as one of Ireland’s finest links complexes, with two championship courses, The Old Links and The Glashedy Links. The location is divine, with the course running along the coast overlooking the golden beach of Pollan Strand and Glashedy Rock. The Glashedy course is interwoven with The Old Links, the holes weaving their way through the wild dunes offering a wonderful layout and playing experience.
Rosapenna Golf Club
Rosapenna Golf Club has become a haven for golfers thanks to its three stunning courses. The course designed by Old Tom Morris opened in 1893 and was remodelled by Harry Colt in 1912. In 2003, Sandy Hills was built by Paul Ruddy and Frank Casey Snr and is a long course with tight fairways set in sand dunes and stunning views over Sheephaven Bay. Rosapenna acquired St Patrick’s Links in 2012. Almost a decade later, in 2021, Tom Doak opened St Patrick’s Links. The course is a journey through huge dunes, overlooking Sheephaven Bay, skirting the coast, then returning to gentler dunes. Rosapenna Golf Resort is a course not to be missed.
Nairn and Portnoo Links
Built in 1905, it sits on a breathtaking strip of land along the Atlantic coast in the Donegal region of north-west Ireland. Recently redesigned By Gil Hanse and Jim Wager the pair have made significant changes and rerouted the course. The Setting is Mesmerising, and the perfect links course blend of sea and dunes played out on a slither of land, is a step back in time which is offered to the golfer. A classic links with wide undulating fairways, huge sand dunes and small greens makes this now a really good test of golf.
Enniscrone Golf Links
Founded in 1918 and extended to 18 holes in 1930, this is a truly challenging course. It was extensively redesigned in 1970 by Eddie Hackett and now has 27 holes. Enniscrone is situated on a promontory jutting into Killala Bay at the mouth of the Moy estuary. The course is superb on the back 9 with the sand dunes and ocean views, but be prepared for windy conditions.
Portsalon Golf Club
Portsalon is located in the north-west of Ireland, in County Donegal. The golf course runs along the beautiful shores of Ballymastoker Bay. The course offers breathtaking views with the hills of the Inishowen Peninsula to the east and the Knockalla Mountains to the west. A magical location and a course not to be missed.

The Island Golf Club.
Established in 1890, The Island Golf Club enjoys a unique setting, bordered on three sides by the sea. The island is simply harmonious and in tune with its surroundings. Some of the shaggiest, most rugged and imposing sand dunes imaginable provide a natural and distinct amphitheatre for many of the holes. The view from the first tee is stunning, as the fairway below snakes its way between two sand dunes towards the Irish Sea.
Portmarnock Golf Links
Portmarnock Golf Club is situated on its own sandy peninsula with water on three sides, the course is at the mercy of the wind. Only 20 minutes from Dublin, it is very convenient and well worth a visit. Built in 1894, the course has hosted many Irish Opens and Walker Cups. Many who have played here say it is one of the most enjoyable courses.
Portmarnock Jameson Links
A private course was established in the 1850s. As the course is only accessible by boat, these are some of the oldest golf grounds in the whole of Ireland. The new owners have completely renovated the golf course and hotel. It is an excellent base for golfers playing around Dublin.
Royal Dublin Golf Club
Founded in 1895 and rebuilt by Harry Colt after being damaged in the First World War, the course is located on Bull Island in Dublin Bay. It is a classic course, very flat and with an unusual 18th for an Irish links ! Having hosted numerous professional tournaments over the years, it’s a real links gem that shouldn’t be missed.
